“As we continue to add more cars and more customers, having a high level of security in place is a great comfort.” – Diego Lira, CEO, Turbi
Turbi, a Brazil-based car-sharing service, is taking advantage of FaceTec‘s mobile facial recognition technology for customer verification.
FaceTec’s ZoOm 3D Face Login has been integrated into Turbi’s mobile app, allowing end users to unlock a Turbi car with a selfie. At the same time, the solution’s implementation helps to prevent unauthorized users from accessing Turbi vehicles.
In a statement announcing the integration, Turbi CEO Diego Lira emphasized the security offered by the system, which relies not merely on a static, 2D selfie, but on a selfie video from which the ZoOm system can extract a 3D template. “As we continue to add more cars and more customers, having a high level of security in place is a great comfort,” he said.
Lira also emphasized the speed with which his organization was able to integrate FaceTec’s solution into its mobile app, asserting, “We deployed our Turbi mobile app integrated with ZoOm in only short three weeks from our very first conversation with FaceTec.”
The integration arrives after FaceTec demonstrated ZoOm’s car access applications in partnership with IAV at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show – certainly not the only application of the technology, as FaceTec’s recent partnership with EvroTrust illustrates, but one that could grow in importance as car-sharing continues to proliferate.
