TruCrowd and URBO Studio have announced a strategic partnership to roll out identity-based ticketing for large-scale live events in Bulgaria, combining TruCrowd’s “face-as-your-ticket” entry technology with URBO Studio’s booking, sales, and ticketing infrastructure.
The companies are positioning the deployment as a shift away from tickets as transferable tokens and toward admission anchored to verified identity. In that model, a ticket is bound to an individual and checked at the gate through a biometric match, an approach intended to curb copying, unauthorized resale, and other forms of ticket abuse while reducing friction at high-throughput entry points.
“Traditional tickets that are not linked to identity are easy to copy, resell, and exploit. By moving to identity-first ticketing, we remove that weakness and set a new standard for fairer, smoother access at major events in Bulgaria,” said Daniel Križan, chief executive officer of TruCrowd.
Identity-based ticketing moves from pilots to platform integrations
Identity-based entry has been gaining momentum in live events and sports as operators look for ways to manage gate congestion, improve fraud controls, and limit scalping. In multiple deployments, facial recognition is used to validate a person’s ticket entitlement in dedicated fast lanes, while conventional tickets remain available for those who do not enroll. That pattern has appeared in venue rollouts such as facial recognition express entry at Raymond James Stadium and a student-focused pilot at Arizona State’s football stadium, reflecting a broader push to embed biometric checks into existing ticketing workflows rather than replacing ticketing platforms outright.
TruCrowd has also been building its footprint through partnerships aimed at scaling deployment across different venue environments. Earlier this month, a venue integration partnership with Nuweb Group set out a similar operational focus, tying biometric entry to ticket scanning and access control processes so organizers can manage exceptions, throughput, and on-site support without redesigning their entire commerce stack.
Bulgaria rollout targets large organizers and real-world operating conditions
URBO Studio’s role in Bulgarian ticketing and event commerce is central to the partnership’s delivery model. The company supports ticketing and sales infrastructure behind major local event platforms, including Ticket Station, which the companies describe as a ticket sales platform used by Fest Team, one of Bulgaria’s largest event organizers. URBO chief executive officer Andrey Lilov framed the shift as a control and trust issue as much as a security upgrade.
“For organisers, identity-based ticketing is not just about security; it’s about control, data integrity, and trust in the entire event operation. Partnering with TruCrowd allows us to offer Bulgarian event organisers a future-ready solution that scales for large audiences and real-world conditions,” Lilov said.
The partnership was announced alongside a live demonstration of fast-track access using facial recognition at TravelX on February 13, during “Ваканция & СПА Експо” at Sofia’s Inter Expo Center. The initial emphasis on fast-track lanes suggests an incremental rollout approach focused on throughput measurement and exception handling before broader gate adoption.
