Tampa Bay Buccaneers Launch Facial Recognition Express Entry at Raymond James Stadium

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have introduced a facial recognition entry option at Raymond James Stadium, marking the latest example of biometric access being integrated into major sports venues. The new system, known as “Express Entry,” allows fans to bypass traditional lines by verifying their identity through a face scan linked to their Ticketmaster account.

The system became available in early August and is open to all attendees aged 18 and older. To participate, fans create a profile by uploading a selfie within their Ticketmaster account, which is then linked to their digital tickets. On event days, those registered can access dedicated Express Entry lanes where facial recognition cameras confirm their identity, enabling seamless entry without scanning a ticket or showing ID.

Streamlined Access with Privacy Controls

Express Entry is optional, and fans who prefer not to use facial recognition can still enter through traditional gates using standard mobile ticket scanning. The Buccaneers emphasize that the new system is designed to offer added convenience, not to replace existing access options. The technology also supports group entry, permitting guests whose tickets are stored in the same account to enter together via facial recognition.

The rollout applies to all events hosted at Raymond James Stadium, including concerts and non-sporting gatherings. This broader implementation signals a growing shift in how venues manage secure, high-volume access while maintaining user convenience.

Facial Recognition Expands Across Entertainment

The Buccaneers’ initiative aligns with broader trends in venue access technology. Other organizations have recently announced similar programs, including the Milwaukee Brewers, who are deploying facial recognition lanes at American Family Field, and global entertainment company HYBE, which plans to roll out facial recognition systems at K-pop concerts in 2025.

While the use of biometric systems in public venues continues to spark debate around privacy and data protection, recent innovations have introduced encrypted facial recognition technologies that prioritize user data security. The Buccaneers’ implementation reflects a growing effort across the industry to balance technological innovation with responsible data practices.
