TECH5 has joined the Secure Identity Alliance (SIA) and its OSIA Initiative, a project aimed at developing an open standard for Application Programming Interfaces that supports seamless interoperability between different identity management solutions and technologies.
In announcing the move, TECH5 Strategic Advisor Rob Haslam noted that the company regularly contributes to other industry organizations including the Biometrics Institute, the European Association for Biometrics, the Open Identity Exchange, and CITeR. He called TECH5’s OSIA membership “an important strategic decision”, adding that the company wants “to ensure that all its platforms are OSIA-compliant and available for all counties developing inclusive digital ID ecosystems using the OSIA framework.”
The news comes just a few weeks after TECH5’s announcement that it had consolidated all of its biometric matching technology into an overarching platform, dubbed “T5-OmniMatch”. The platform encompasses all of TECH5’s face, fingerprint, and iris recognition technologies, and TECH5 indicated that it could be expanded to support additional modalities in the future.
The company had already established itself as a developer of highly sophisticated biometric technologies, with its iris recognition technology having delivered the fastest matching speed of any vendors in testing by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) last year, and its fingerprint matching tech scoring highest in speed and accuracy in NIST’s Proprietary Fingerprint Template (PFT) III program.
Now, it’s poised to bring that expertise to the SIA and its OSIA effort, with the company explaining that its aim is “to participate in the OSIA global qualification program with its matching and digital ID platforms.”
“TECH5 fully shares SIA’s goals, supporting the provision of legal, trusted identity for all and driving the development of inclusive digital identity,” said the company’s CTO, Chairman, and co-founder, Rahul Parthe. “We are innovating to realize the inclusive digital IDs of the future and believe that sharing our vision and expertise with the community and exchanging ideas with other industry leaders can help shape global standards for digital identity development and increase its adoption.”
