The FBI Grants Latest Certification To Suprema Biometric Algorithms

Biometric and identification technology provider Suprema announced this morning that its fingerprint compression algorithms have received the latest version of the FBI’s Wavelet Scalar Quantization (WSQ) Certification.

This specific brand of FBI certification demands the highly accurate implementation of WSQ Gray-Scale Fingerprint Image Compression Specification (version 3.1), which is regarded as the latest standard for the exchange of fingerprint images in law enforcement and other verticals that trade in biometrics.

The WSQ specification concerns the exchange of 8-bit, 500ppi fingerprint images. It defines a class of encoders and decoders capable of inter-operation for the transfer of said biometric data.
