Crane Bank, based in Uganda, has chosenbanking solutions provider Temenos’ technology, including the T24 fingerprint protected banking system, to be implemented at the financial institution’s new branch in Rwanda as well as to replace the current system in its head office.
This decision was made in support of Crane Bank’s ambition to expand to 50 branches by 2015 with the goal of attracting about one million customers. Among the many reasons that Crane Bank chose Temenos is its biometric security offerings: the solution supports fingerprint biometrics, allowing for quick and secure access for employees and customers.
DigitalPersona acquired Temenos’ parent company Identity Stream earlier in October, and it is therefore the company responsible for providing this biometric security.
“DigitalPersona’s portfolio of fingerprint hardware and software, as well as their experience in strong authentication software, makes them an ideal partner for us moving forward,” said Terminos global alliances director Mike Head speaking to the acquisition’s benefits.
The agreement with Crane Bank further solidifies Temenos’ presence in the region, with over 90 other financial institutions across Africa, including Kenya Commercial Bank and Commercial Bank of Africa, that also use the company’s software.
