Telos Renews Background Check Contract with Seattle Airport

The Port of Seattle has renewed its contract with Telos ID. The company has been providing Designated Aviation Channeling (DAC) services for the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) since 2016, and will continue doing so for another ten years thanks to this renewal.

DAC services are specifically concerned with background checks in the aviation industry. Employees that are being hired to work in restricted areas of a commercial airport can use the Telos DAC system to submit their personal and biometric information and speed up the credentialing process. The Telos ID solution is approved by the TSA, and comes with a subscription to the FBI Rap Back program. The Seattle airport, meanwhile, has integrated its own identity management system (IdMS) with Telos’ DAC platform.

“With a large badge holder population, we have streamlined the TSA-required aviation worker background check process, while upholding the high security and customer service standards at SEA,” said Telos ID Aviation Security VP Dawn Lucini. “We are pleased to support the Port of Seattle in their efforts to provide credentialing and vetting services, all while reducing costs and providing superior customer care and flexibility.”

The Port of Seattle is not Telos’s only customer in the aviation industry. The company currently provides DAC services for LAX Airport in Los Angeles.

Telos ID also provides background checks for organizations in other industries. For example, the company is authorized to conduct background checks for those working in national security exchanges after the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) named Telos as an official vendor for the Electronic Fingerprint Submission (EFS) program back in August. Before that, the company was contracted to provide background checks for the US Census Bureau and Office Depot. The Census Bureau is expected to hire as many as 500,000 people to conduct the Decennial Census in 2020.
