Having recently secured a Certificate of Conformity with the United Kingdom Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework (DIATF), TECH5 is seeking to position itself as a key provider of identity solutions in the European market. The biometrics and AI firm’s focus on Europe has been amplified as it provides its biometric matching and liveness technologies to remote verification and digital onboarding companies across the continent.
The urgency for such technologies has been notably heightened in the wake of the pandemic, which underscored the necessity for certified remote identification and verification service providers. This is particularly pertinent for individuals needing to access public or private online services without a previously recognized digital identity. In alignment with evolving regulations, such as those recently enacted in France, remote identity verification services are now under evaluation and certification by the French National Cyber Security Agency (ANSSI), bolstered by support from the Ministry of the Interior to ensure the security and reliability of these processes.
A testament to its ambition, TECH5 has offered its facial liveness detection software to various certified remote identity verification service providers within Europe. Andy Gray, Vice President Sales & Business Development for Europe at TECH5, elucidated the firm’s proactive engagement in the European digital onboarding and verification market. “We are actively working on the European digital onboarding and verification market, equipping our partners and customers with our latest technology products and providing our expertise and technical support,” he said.
This endeavor is encapsulated in TECH5’s extensive suite of biometric software products, including patented technologies for remote contactless biometric capture utilizing a mobile device or web camera, and matching technologies encompassing de-duplication, verification, and authentication functionality, not to mention liveness detection for both face and fingerprints.
TECH5’s concerted expansion efforts were heralded in 2021 by its establishment of a subsidiary in the United Kingdom, aimed at broadening its footprint in the local digital identity market. This move signified TECH5’s ambition to develop a multifaceted biometric Digital ID solution that is fully owned and managed by UK citizens. Additionally, TECH5’s venture into the Open Identity Exchange last year underscored its commitment to fostering inclusive biometric and digital ID offerings, underscored by a robust investment backing totaling USD 20.5 million over two investment rounds.
Moreover, TECH5’s strategic positioning within the European market is also reflective of broader trends within the region. France, for instance, is spearheading identity verification legislation in Europe, with TECH5 providing its technologies to French partners to enable banks and other institutions to comply with these emerging regulations.
With its headquarters in Switzerland and an established European subsidiary in Portugal, TECH5’s global outreach is progressively resonating within the digital identity verification landscape.
“We believe that remote identity verification services are among the most fast-growing market verticals for application of biometrics in Europe and are delighted to be on the forefront of it with our range of technology offerings,” said Gray.
