Imageware has a major new strategic partner, and an important new customer. The company has announced that it has integrated biometric technology from TECH5 into its product portfolio, and will provide its Imageware Identity Platform to visitor management solutions specialist Security Identification Systems Corporation (or “SISCO”).
TECH5’s offerings including face, iris, and fingerprint biometrics algorithms, with the latter in particular having shown strong results in testing conducted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) toward the end of last year. The company’s biometrics expertise has helped it to attract considerable investment funding from Yinda Infocomm, which made a $2.5 million investment at the start of 2021 and followed that up with an additional $8 million in May.
Now, thanks to the new partnership, TECH5’s technology will be offered alongside ImageWare’s own solutions, with the latter company acting as a Value-Added Reseller.
“This strategic partnership with TECH5 enables Imageware to include accurate and fast biometric algorithms and technology into our products and augments our offerings for both the private and public sectors,” explained AJ Naddell, Imageware’s SVP of Product Management & Sales. “TECH5’s suite of algorithms is highly-rated by NIST in several categories, and we appreciate the opportunity to work with their innovative team.”
The TECH5 partnership has allowed Imageware to offer sophisticated facial recognition technology to SISCO for use in the latter’s mobile-based visitor and ship management solutions aimed at the cruise line industry. SISCO will offer its new biometric solution as an upgrade for existing customers, and will leverage it to help win new clients.
Commenting on the offering, SISCO CEO Anthony Zagami explained that traditional ship-boarding processes tend to require considerable staff resources and are time-intensive, issues that the biometric boarding technology will address. “This new biometric identification solution will save time and provide customers with more safe, satisfying, and secure onboarding and mustering processes,” he said.
News of the partnerships arrives ahead of Imageware’s planned Q2 conference call scheduled for September 23, in which the company may offer an update on a strategic review that got underway earlier this summer.
