TECH5 Appoints Fernando Li to Lead Enterprise Expansion in Latin America

TECH5 has appointed Fernando Li as Vice President of Sales for Latin America, a move aimed at strengthening the company’s enterprise presence in a region where demand for biometric and identity management solutions continues to grow. The appointment, announced on August 18, 2025, underscores TECH5’s commitment to expanding its reach through ongoing national and international projects in Latin America.

Experience and Role

Li brings more than a decade of industry experience to TECH5, having previously managed complex biometric projects at Aware. In that role, he supported more than 100 end-customers across multiple industries, overseeing projects from initial prospecting through delivery and production. His expertise spans fingerprint, face, iris, and voice recognition technologies, along with the infrastructure needed to deploy them effectively.

“I come with a strong background in biometrics—fingerprint, face, iris, and voice recognition technologies are second nature to me,” said Li. “I am looking forward to joining an agile, technology-curious, and customer-focused TECH5 community, eager to take things to the next level to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations.”

As Vice President of Sales for Latin America, Li will be responsible for driving TECH5’s enterprise business initiatives, building on the company’s work in both public and private sector deployments. His appointment reflects TECH5’s focus on consolidating partnerships, supporting active projects, and creating new opportunities in a region where biometric identity solutions are rapidly advancing.

TECH5’s Growth and Regional Focus

TECH5 has been expanding its digital identity solutions through innovations in multi-biometric matching and contactless capture. Its T5-OmniMatch ABIS supports large-scale fingerprint, face, and iris matching, while the company’s T5-AirSnap Face and Finger enables contactless biometric capture using standard smartphones. These technologies are already being deployed in Latin American projects, including Peru’s national identity authority (RENIEC) and digital identity programs in Honduras, where they support large-scale citizen enrollment and authentication services.

Ameya Bhagwat, Chief Revenue Officer at TECH5, said: “We are delighted to welcome Fernando to the TECH5 team. With several national and international projects using TECH5’s technologies currently in deployment across LATAM, the company has big plans for the region. Fernando will lead our enterprise business initiatives, working with existing partners and customers, as well as onboarding new ones.”

The Latin American market is seeing growing adoption of biometric solutions across government, financial services, and telecommunications. These systems are being implemented to improve identity verification, strengthen security, and reduce fraud, while also delivering efficiencies in customer onboarding and service delivery. By appointing Li to lead its enterprise initiatives, TECH5 aims to position itself as a key player in shaping the region’s digital identity ecosystem.
