SCCG Management has expanded its strategic partnership with Aware, becoming the preferred global reseller for Aware’s biometric Know Your Customer (KYC) verification solutions within the regulated gaming industry. The collaboration is aimed at helping gaming operators meet increasing regulatory requirements while enhancing fraud prevention, player protection, and overall user experience.
The agreement arrives at a time when online and land-based gaming providers face rising pressure to implement secure, compliant identity verification and anti-money laundering (AML) systems. Aware’s expanded suite of technologies—including facial recognition, fingerprint scanning, liveness detection, document authentication, and geolocation tools—is designed to streamline player onboarding while maintaining compliance with a complex web of jurisdictional standards.
The move follows Aware’s recent appointment of biometrics veteran Brian Krause as Chief Revenue Officer. Krause brings extensive leadership experience from the identity verification space and is expected to play a key role in scaling Aware’s market presence across gaming and adjacent regulated industries.
A 2024 survey by Aware found that while consumers increasingly trust biometric authentication, their confidence is closely tied to transparency in how biometric data is managed. Players expect secure, low-friction experiences—and prefer brands that offer opt-outs or explain their data policies clearly. These findings are particularly relevant in the gaming sector, where regulatory scrutiny is high and public trust can be fragile.
The new partnership also reflects broader industry trends. Similar to recent developments in financial services—such as companies strengthening their AML and KYC security protocols—regulated gaming markets are rapidly adopting advanced tools to verify identity, deter fraud, and maintain compliance. These solutions are increasingly vital as new markets open up in North America, Latin America, and Europe, each with varying regulations on age, identity, and residency verification.
Critically, Aware’s biometric KYC system emphasizes liveness detection as a defense against sophisticated fraud tactics like bots and deepfakes. Combined with rapid, mobile-first onboarding flows, the technology aims to strike a balance between airtight security and minimal user friction—an important factor for customer retention in the gaming space. The ability to verify identity in seconds, without adding onboarding steps, is seen as a competitive differentiator.
In addition to fraud prevention, these tools play an important role in promoting responsible gaming. Biometric KYC solutions help operators ensure that only eligible players can access platforms, prevent duplicate accounts, and support national or jurisdictional self-exclusion systems designed to reduce problem gambling. As regulators increasingly tie compliance obligations to player protection outcomes, solutions like Aware’s are likely to become essential components of responsible gaming infrastructure.
