Tascent has partnered with the Information Engineering Group (IEG) to enable contactless access control for travelers using airport lounges. The joint IEG-Tascent VIP Lounge Access Solution combines IEG’s Airport Lounge Access platform with Tascent’s InSight Face facial recognition devices and the Tascent Enterprise Suite for biometric identity management.
Together, the two companies are trying to meet the demand for safe, socially distant identity verification technologies during the COVID-19 pandemic. Travelers can use their mobile devices to enroll in the opt-in VIP system. They will then complete a facial recognition scan before entering the lounge, allowing them to enjoy airport services with minimal human contact.
The VIP Lounge Access Solution is available now, and is being marketed towards airlines, airports, and other aviation organizations. The WTTC has warned that contactless technology will be crucial as the air travel industry tries to restore trust in the wake of COVID-19. SITA would later reach a similar conclusion in its latest Runway for Future Operations report.
This is not Tascent’s first foray into the world of international travel. The company previously provided a passenger boarding system for Royal Caribbean Cruises back in 2018. It has also established a new manufacturing center in Malaysia to support its operations in Southeast Asia.
