Tascent is looking to provide better service to its customers in the Asia-Pacific region. To that end, the company has established a new regional support center in Malaysia that will allow the company to meet the growing public and private demand for biometric technologies in Southeast Asia.
The new facility is being built in collaboration with Min Aik Technology, which acts as Tascent’s manufacturing partner. It will be located at an existing Min Aik location, and will manufacture the company’s various InSight devices while also providing ongoing support and maintenance for Tascent’s local clients.
According to Tascent, there are already more than 1,200 InSight devices in circulation in Southeast Asia. The company is hoping to boost those numbers through the new facility.
The InSight Face facial recognition system posted the top score in the Department of Homeland Security’s Biometric Technology Rally back in 2019. Tascent previously raised $19.5 million in a Series B funding round that included Min Aik Technologies back in 2018, and has since gone on to provide Royal Caribbean Cruises with a facial recognition system to facilitate passenger boarding. The company’s flagship InSight One device debuted in 2017, and comes with both iris and facial recognition capabilities.
