Fingerprint Cards‘ biometric technology has now been integrated into two more laptop devices, the company has announced.
In a statement, FPC declined to name its client for these latest integrations, but characterized it as “a leading Taiwan-based PC manufacturer.” The company also noted that its biometric solution for PCs is designed to interface with Windows Hello, the biometric authentication system baked into Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating system, indicating that the new laptops run on that platform.
Fingerprint Cards received official approval from Microsoft earlier this year, when the tech giant added the former’s Match-on-Chip fingerprint matching solution for PCs to its Approved Vendor List. That designation formally certified that FPC’s solution met Microsoft’s “Windows Hello Enhanced Sign-in Security” standards.
The PC market is one of growing interest to Fingerprint Cards as the company has sought to expand its business activities beyond the mobile market in which it attained prominence over the past decade. In its recent corporate update concerning its results for the 2021 fiscal year, FPC CEO Christian Fredrikson noted that the company saw its first volume orders for fingerprint sensors designed specifically for PC applications during the year, and predicted that these sales could outpace revenues from the access control market in the following 12 to 18 months.
FPC had announced sensor integrations into laptops from Xiaomi and Dell, as well as an integration into an Honor Notebook, over the course of 2021. The company now says that four of the world’s top six PC OEMs have integrated its technology into their product lines.
News of the new laptop integrations arrives in the same week as Fingerprint Cards’ announcement of important new partnerships with India-based companies concerning its biometric card-focused fingerprint sensor technology.
