Arizona-based Synel Americas has launched a new biometric time and attendance tracking system based on facial recognition.
Part of its SY-Face line, it’s called the SY-910, and it’s a solution that “cannot be fooled by 2-D imagery, identical twins, ever-changing facial hair, darkness, and more,” according to a statement from the company. And each terminal features six programmable buttons that can be used to add tips, factor in piecework rates, and so on.
While biometric time and attendance tracking systems are increasingly popular in the workplace, SY-910’s use of facial recognition could help it to stand out in a market often focused on fingerprint scanning. The contactless solution could prove to be particularly popular in settings in which hygiene is a chief concern.
Moreover, Synel Americas claims to have seen more than 120,000 installations of its previous solutions around the world, so the company appears to have a strong track record already.
