“…it delivers AudioSmart’s key speech recognition capabilities, including acoustic echo cancellation and voice targeting.”
Synaptics has adapted its AudioSmart Far-Field Voice (FFV) technology for emerging set-top-boxes.
Its new solution, the VideoSmart VS-550 multimedia processor, features a quad-core 15K DMIPs processor, and arrives as a single-chip solution for device makers. It’s designed for Android TV set-top boxes, and Synaptics says it supports all of the major speech recognition systems, including Google Assistant and Amazon’s Alexa. And, of course, it delivers AudioSmart’s key speech recognition capabilities, including acoustic echo cancellation and voice targeting.
Legacy set-top-boxes, meanwhile, can still benefit from Synaptics FFV technology thanks to a standalone accessory device that can be plugged into a USB port.
The VideoSmart VS-550 solution and its USB counterpart arrive on the heels of Synaptics’ announcement that its AudioSmart technology had been integrated into new TVs from China-based manufacturer TCL. They have also been announced just in time for this week’s IBC 2018 conference in Amsterdam, which revolves around media and entertainment technology. The event will run from September 14th to 18th, and Synaptics will be in attendance.
