“TBS’s technology supports both fingerprint and iris recognition, with supplemental support for authentication based on a PIN or access card.”
TBS, a Swiss specialist in biometric access control and time and attendance solutions, has established a new partnership with Gantner, a supplier of access control solutions focused on medium-sized businesses in the Middle East and Central Europe.
The latter has integrated TBS’s technology into its platform, allowing administrators to register users and manage devices via its GAT Matrix platform. The companies say that administrators can access all functions through this single user interface.
TBS’s technology supports both fingerprint and iris recognition, with supplemental support for authentication based on a PIN or access card.
The partnership arrives at a time when interest in fingerprint-based authentication may be on the wane, with many looking to contactless biometric solutions as a way of reducing the potential spread of the novel coronavirus. That being the case, TBS’s iris recognition functionality may end up being the more popular of the platform’s biometric options.
End users may also welcome the ability to enrol users remotely, either through online access to an enrolment device, or even through a mobile device. This could prove especially popular as lockdown measures in various parts of the world persist in temporarily preventing employees from access physical work sites.
