“BioMini Plus 2 has been specially developed to meet stringent requirements for the India government’s UIDAI projects which demand fast and high quality image capturing.”- Bogun Park, CEO, Suprema ID
Suprema ID has made sure its BioMini Plus 2 fingerprint scanner remains compliant with India’s biometric national ID program in the wake of new certification standards. The company has announced that the device complies with UIDAI Registered Device Level 0 of India’s Standardization Testing & Quality Certification (STQC).
First launched in September of 2016, the BioMini Plus 2 is a small fingerprint reader device designed for compatibility with PCs, smartphones, and tablets. It was STQC certified at its launch, helping to ensure it would be compatible with India’s Aadhaar ID program; but as the latter has evolved and expanded its reach across Indian society, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), which administrates it, has sought to enhance security standards associated with Aadhaar, with UIDAI Registered Device Level 0 pertaining to encryption and digital signature specifications.
In a statement announcing the new certification, Suprema ID CEO Bogun Park explained that the BioMini Plus 2 was “specially developed to meet stringent requirements for the India government’s UIDAI projects which demand fast and high quality image capturing,” underscoring the importance of maintaining adherence to STQC standards. Bogun Park added that with the BioMini Plus 2’s Multi Dynamic Range technology enabling operation in harsh sunlight, as well as its liveness detection technology and support for Android, Suprema is confident in its ability to gain marketshare with respect to “UIDAI projects as well as fast-emerging biometric identification projects in many countries.”
Suprema has been showcasing the device and other BioMini solutions at the International Police Expo in New Delhi.
