Suprema has announced a new line of RF card readers compatible with its CoreStation platform.
Dubbed the XPass D2 series, the new card readers feature dual-frequency RFID technology allowing them to read 128kHz and 13.56MHz cards, and are compatible with MIFARE, DESFire Ev1, EM, and FeliCa standards. They also support NFC and BLE communications with Suprema’s BioStar Mobile Card.
The card readers are available in three different models, with Suprema describing the XPD2-MDB as a ‘mullion-type’ device, while the XPD2-GDB and XPD2-GKDB devices offer a ‘gangbox’ design, with the latter featuring a PIN pad. All of the readers offer IP67 water and dust resistance and IK08 vandalization resistance, and can operate in temperatures ranging from -22°F to 149°F, allowing the devices to operate in a range of environments.
In a statement announcing the new XPass D2 readers, Suprema CEO Young S. Moon framed them as an important addition to the CoreStation platform, suggesting that they further establish CoreStation as “a clear alternative for an enterprise requiring higher levels of biometric security and centralized access control system topology.” Suprema says the card readers will be ready to ship next month.
