Biometrics and security specialist Suprema has unveiled its BioStation L2 fingerprint scanning terminal.
It’s aimed at the enterprise access control and time and attendance tracking markets, and it features some impressive specifications under the hood. BioStation L2 has a 1.2GHz quad core processor, which Suprema calls “the most powerful processor on the market today,” and it has 2GB of flash memory and 256MB of RAM, allowing it to store as many as 500,000 users.
Perhaps most importantly, the device features liveness detection based on “improved algorithms and optical techniques that effectively eliminate possible fraud using various materials or fake fingers,” according to Suprema. As awareness about potential spoofing rises, that quality could make the device particularly compelling to organizations keen on security.
Suprema plans to launch the device at the start of this week’s ISC West conference in Las Vegas, where the company will be showcasing its offerings alongside operating partner BioConnect.
