“Like the original BioSign launched at last year’s Mobile World Congress, there is also an emphasis with BioSign 2.0 on size, with Suprema asserting that it’s the world’s smallest fingerprint sensor at 13mm².”
Suprema has announced a new version of its BioSign fingerprint biometrics solution, just in time for Mobile World Congress 2017, where it will see its official launch.
In a statement announcing the new offering, Suprema asserts that BioSign 2.0 offers “matching speeds of 2x the fastest speeds available today,” performing in the range of 100ms to 50ms depending on the application processor. The algorithm is also said to have an FAR below 0.0005 percent, and features a machine learning AI capability, allowing it to refine its computations as it is used.
Like the original BioSign launched at last year’s Mobile World Congress, there is also an emphasis with BioSign 2.0 on size, with Suprema asserting that it’s the world’s smallest fingerprint sensor at 13mm². And Suprema continues to aim it at the broader smartphone market, offering applications in lower- to upper-range devices by “overcoming low-cost AP performance limitations,” as Suprema CEO Brian Song explains.
MWC 2017 runs from February 27 to March 2 in Barcelona, with Suprema set to show off its solutions at booth #1A02.
