Today, biometric and identification technology provider Suprema announced that is has partnered with Kwick High-Tech & Solutions. The new team up will see Suprema providing the BioMini Slim to be used in an Android-based biometric verification system in Pakistan.
Based in Pakistan, Kwick is a firm specializing in SIM manufacturing and biometric security solutions. With Suprema’s mobile biometric technology it has already launched a fingerprint verification solution for smartphones.
BioMini Slim marks the first release from Suprema that runs on Android. It is specially designed to provide security in PC-based access management solutions and boasts a rugged design making it ready for a wide variety of deployments. It’s dust and waterproof with an IP65 rating.
In terms of sensors, the BioMini Slim features the company’s 500dpi slim optical sensor. This means that a large platen offers more space for easy use and accurate print capture. It also has Suprema’s anti-spoofing solution: Live Finger Detection.
Suprema is expecting that more than 75,000 devices will be needed for the system, each to be deployed in outlets across Pakistan. The first shipment has already been made and additional deliveries are expected in accordance with this stated estimate.
Once this deployment is set, customers will have their thumbprint scanned and compared with records held by Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority. After verifying the identity of the customer, they can then proceed to be issued their new SIM.
