SuperCom Secures Major Quarantine Contract With Israeli Government

SuperCom has landed a lucrative contract with the Israeli government. The deal specifically concerns the company’s PureHealth COVID-19 Quarantine Compliance Solution, which will be used to help enforce Israel’s home quarantine requirements during the pandemic.

The PureHealth solution covers SuperCom’s PureCare smartphone and PureTag ankle bracelet, both of which support location tracking to make sure that residents are staying at home and following the proper COVID-19 protocols. PureHealth also comes with all of the software needed to manage a large number of IoT devices. SuperCom’s devices have anti-tampering mechanisms, and use fingerprint biometrics to verify the identities of people in quarantine.

The contract, meanwhile, will cover an initial three-month period, with an option to extend for up to a total of 36 months. SuperCom estimates that the deal will generate $3 million in revenue on a monthly basis, though it is billed on a per-unit per-day rate so the final number could fluctuate depending on total usage. The deal covers training, installation, and support in addition to the PureCare and PureTag units themselves.

The news builds on a successful pilot for the Israeli government. During the pilot, the government gave arriving airport travelers the option to quarantine at home with a PureHealth monitor. Ninety-one percent opted into the program, prompting the government to open bids for a more substantial contract. SuperCom won that bid, after previously supplying 100 PureCare smartphones and 100 PureTag ankle bracelets for the pilot.

SuperCom first unveiled its PureHealth quarantine solution in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic last March. The company is perhaps best known for its offender tracking programs, with current projects in Canada and the Caribbean.
