Two products featuring SRI International’s Iris on the Move (IOM) technology have won prestigious awards at the ASIS 2015 conference. Both an enterprise operations terminal developed by SRI and a residential smart lock developed by KT&C (Korea Technology and Communications) are winners of the 2015 ASIS Accolades Competition: Security’s Best Award.
SRI’s enterprise operations terminal, which features embedded iris biometrics, offers workforce management features, access control, and customized applications. It is promoted by the company as a cost-effective security platform for the enterprise market and uses a specialized Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro for its user interface, which itself features SRI’s Iris on the Move iris scanning technology – the product of a deal between the two companies made earlier this year.
KT&C’s KEES door lock, meanwhile, uses IOM technology to authenticate users, replacing key- and PIN code-based door locks. It’s designed specifically for residential properties, a relatively untapped market in which biometric authentication has a lot of room to grow.
In a press release, SRI International VP Mark Clifton said his company “strives to deliver security products that combine ease of use and scalability for a broader range of market applications,” adding that it’s “rewarding to have our efforts recognized by ASIS International.”
