Voice biometrics developer SpeechPro has been named an industry leader by a prominent trade magazine. Speech Technology Magazine made the assessment based on a study conducted by Opus Research, and published its findings in a report entitled “Voice Biometrics Consensus: Global Tally of Voice Security and Authentication Implementations“.
The study found that SpeechPro’s target markets, which include government, financial services, healthcare, and education, are major growth areas for the voice biometrics industry as a whole; SpeechPro has secured deals to supply a number of partners in these areas with its VoiceGrid and VoiceKey technologies. The company has also been actively involved in education, having secured a major partnership with West Virginia University to provide technology and mentorship in its voice biometrics curriculum.
The Opus Research team also predicted growth in the use of voice biometrics as part of a multi-factor authentication system, and indeed, as security advocates like the FIDO Alliance call for those kinds of standards, researchers are already hard at work developing just such a system. Meanwhile, smartphone manufacturers like ZTE are placing a greater emphasis on voice biometrics as part of their devices’ user interface – another promising prospect for voice biometrics developers, if consumers embrace such systems.
