Facial recognition and computer vision “will occupy a central and primary place as a biometric security solution” going forward, according to SoftBank advisory (and former head of Mossad) Yossi Cohen.
Cohen was speaking at a recent conference of security consultants organized by Oosto, the Israel-based computer vision specialist. In so doing, he highlighted the prospects of “Vision AI” technology, and praised the offerings of Oosto in particular as being “very sophisticated software”.
That bullish stance is no surprise in the wake of SoftBank’s investment in Oosto earlier this year. The VC investor’s SoftBank Vision Fund 2 led a financing round in collaboration with Eldridge that raised $235 million this past summer, and Oosto went on to use that funding to fuel further enhancements to its Vision AI platform.
Going forward, Cohen wants SoftBank to continue to play an important role in helping to drive Oosto’s success.
“I intend to expand and accelerate the day-to-day collaboration between Softbank and Oosto,” Cohen asserted, adding that SoftBank has “a portfolio of over 300 leading companies in their field that are in constant contact with governments and huge corporations,” and that these companies can act as “ambassadors” to promote Oosto’s solutions to their partners.
For Oosto’s part, CEO Avi Golan said he “had the privilege of serving as an operating-partner at SoftBank and getting to know firsthand the exciting vision of SoftBank founder Masa San, regarding the AI revolution we are in the midst of.”
The company’s executives will shed further light on Oosto’s role in this AI revolution in their next webinar, which will present “10 Reasons to Switch to Frictionless Access Control.” Slated for January 13, 2022, at 11AM Eastern Time, the webinar is now open for registration, free of charge.
