Onfido is helping a gaming operator meet its Know Your Customer obligations. Soft2Bet currently runs a casino and a sportsbook platform, and will be using Onfido’s face and document recognition technology to verify the identities of new players online.
With Onfido, Soft2Bet users will be asked to take a selfie and a picture of a photo ID. Onfido’s solution will verify the authenticity of the document, and compare the image to the selfie to make sure that the person holding the document is its proper owner. In doing so, the solution provides customers with an automated and streamlined onboarding experience that guards against fraud while still allowing them to get set up (and start playing) more quickly.
Soft2Bet offers a series of slots and jackpot games through its Frumzi casino, which recently received a Malta Gaming License that will allow it to expand across more markets. The partnership with Onfido will presumably help facilitate that expansion process.
“We have big plans so we are delighted Onfido could help ensure our future success through their ground-breaking fraud detection solution,” said Soft2Bet CEO Boris Chaikin. “It enables us to automate a great deal of our KYC process and integrating it into our existing technology is proving to be seamless, which makes onboarding much smoother for our customers.”
“Consumers should no longer have to choose between fast digital onboarding and security,” added Onfido Alliances and Partnerships Director Ed Ackerman. “In today’s digital age, users should be able to easily prove their real identity while knowing it is secure when applying for online services.”
Onfido is an approved provider of online age verification technology in Germany, and the company has encouraged gaming operators to use biometrics to meet the country’s new online gambling regulations. In the meantime, the company has continued to provide digital onboarding technology for various financial institutions.
In other news, Ackerman recently discussed the benefits of reusable digital identity credentials in an on-demand webinar with Microsoft. That conversation was moderated by FindBiometrics Editor in Chief Peter Counter.
