Jordan Burris, Vice President and Head of Public Sector Strategy at Socure, has joined the Board of Directors of the Identity Theft Resource Center (ITRC), a prominent nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting victims of identity crime.
In his role at Socure, Burris collaborates with government leaders to develop and expand the company’s public sector offerings for accurate identity verification and fraud risk prevention. He is recognized as an industry leader with profound expertise in identity verification and fraud risk management, which is particularly crucial as identity fraud cases surge.
Speaking with FindBiometrics at the Identiverse 2022 event last summer, Burris highlighted Socure’s unique graph-based approach to identity verification. He also argued for the responsibility of vendors and their customers to put transparency and consent first when dealing with users’ identity.
Before joining Socure, Burris served as the Chief of Staff in the White House Office of the Federal Chief Information Officer, where he played a crucial role in orchestrating technology and cybersecurity initiatives across two Presidential administrations. With experience in both commercial and public sectors, including work at Deloitte, Burris brings a wealth of knowledge in cybersecurity risk management practices.
“Jordan is an industry leader with deep knowledge around identity verification and fraud risk management at a time when identity fraud is soaring,” said ITRC head Eva Velasquez. “Jordan’s expertise is just what we need to continue to offer advice to victims, organizations, and policymakers based on real-world, real-time experiences.”
For his part, Burris expressed excitement about partnering with ITRC, as both organizations share a mission to combat identity theft and provide secure digital identity verification. He emphasized the importance of ensuring digital identity verification works inclusively and securely for everyone, especially those seeking access to government benefits. “I’m excited to partner with the ITRC as we have a similar mission and I look forward to our work together,” he said.
