Multimodal biometric technology company Innovatrics has announced a partnership with the largest health insurance provider in Slovakia, Vseobecna Zdravotna Poistovna (VSZP), that will allow VSZP customers to use Innovatrics’ Digital Onboarding Toolkit for remote onboarding.
Prior to the partnership with Innovatrics, in order to enroll, VSZP customers had to use a grid card or visit a physical branch in order to activate their mobile app. With remote biometric onboarding, customers can now take a picture of their ID as well as a selfie, and authenticate their identity without having to leave their home.
The rise in online traffic caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has led to an increase in cybercrime, and the need for secure remote onboarding solutions. To meet this need, biometric technology has emerged as a frontrunner for enterprises around the world. VSZP joined the growing list of companies around the globe to turn to remote biometric onboarding, becoming the first health insurance company in Slovakia to do so.
“We’ve increased convenience and security of our mobile app, with facial biometrics providing the extra reliability and security of the login process,” said VSZP CEO Richard Strapko. “Only two Slovak banks and us use this functionality to provide extra security.”
The Digital Onboarding Toolkit comprises a set of modules providing facial recognition, liveness detection, and AI-driven OCR (optical character recognition for document reading), allowing for secure and flexible remote onboarding via app or web interface.
Once an ID is authenticated, the data is sent to the central registry of the Ministry of the Interior to be compared against official documents on file, and once the sets of data are confirmed to match, the app notifies the user that their health data is safe.
Earlier this year, Innovatrics announced that its Digital Onboarding Toolkit now supports the Arabic language, allowing the company to make inroads in the Middle East.
