SIA Introduces New Chair and Vice Chair of RISE Steering Committee for Young Professionals

The Security Industry Association (SIA) is bringing on new leadership to run the SIA RISE Steering Committee for young professionals in the security industry. Erin Mann will be stepping up as the Chair of the Committee, while Kelsey Carnell will be assisting her as the new Vice Chair. Mann is currently the Multifamily Strategy and Marketing Manager at Allegion Canada, while Carnell is Axis Communications’ Regional Sales Manager for New England.

Mann has been a member of the RISE Committee since 2018, when she received an SIA RISE Scholarship. She would later receive an SIA Women in Security Forum Scholarship in 2020. In addition to her work with the SIA, she has spearheaded many professional initiatives at Allegion, helping to found the company’s Creativity Unlocked innovation group while serving as the co-chair of the Engagement Group and as a member of the Young Professionals Group and the Network of Empowered Women. Mann is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Foundation for Advancing Security Talent (FAST).

Carnell, meanwhile, was similarly a SIA RISE Scholarship recipient in 2018. Mann will be taking over for outgoing SIA RISE chair Matt Feenan, who is stepping down after a two-year term.

“RISE gave me a deeper understanding of the impact early-career individuals can have in our organizations and industry,” said Mann. “Our committee is a team of dedicated and empowered individuals, and I am looking forward to the work that is ahead as we continue to collaborate with other groups, work towards more empowered and inclusive work spaces and build a network of excited leaders within the security industry.”

SIA RISE was set up to provide young professionals with networking, career advancement, and educational opportunities. The group runs programming at ISC West and ISC East, and is also in charge of scholarships and the AcceleRISE conference. The annual event is geared towards young professionals (under the age of 40) working for SIA member companies.

The SIA itself recently announced that it would be absorbing the Identification Technology Association, and that its members would be leading a new Identity and Biometric Technology Advisory Board. The organization highlighted AI, predictive analytics, and contactless technology in its 2021 Megatrends report.
