SIA Highlights Online Resources for ‘Cyber Readiness’

The Security Industry Association released a statement this week outlining what it and its partners are doing to help combat the growing threat of increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks.

ASIS International, the Electronic Security Association (ESA), The Monitoring Association (TMA), and the PSA Security Network, and the SIA itself have delivered a wealth of content in the form of in-person and virtual educational conferences and workshops, online training, articles, and recommended best practices that aim to educate individuals in the security workforce on how to best minimize the threat of cyberattacks.

“As representatives of the security practitioners and security solutions providers responsible for protecting people and assets around the globe, our organizations have long championed and promoted robust cyber readiness education and adherence to international cybersecurity standards,” reads the statement. “We share a unified vision to continuously strengthen cyber readiness practices by all stakeholders within the security ecosystem.”

SIA notes that it believes there is a growing trend of both manufacturers and integrators across industries that recognize the need to develop strong cyber defence practices within the designs of products and systems.

“Equally important, security professionals responsible for the implementation of these solutions expect a clear commitment to cyber readiness from their technology partners,” the SIA says.

The SIA points to some of the resources available, including upcoming webinars aimed at integrators, certificate programs for monitoring center IT staff, as well as its own various guides and recommendations.

The SIA recently announced a new pair of industry veterans as the latest members of the team to lead its Identity and Biometric Technology Advisory Board (IBTAB).
