A Russian telecommunications start-up is partnering with Shufti Pro to verify the identities of its customers. Birka is trying to improve connectivity and communications for people who travel across international borders, and has consequently set up a global SIM service that will perform well in any location.
To that end, Birka is offering a SIM card service that kicks in as soon as a customer gets to the airport, or when they cross a land border in a vehicle. It provides users with a stable internet connection, which in turn minimizes costs (and hassle) for travelers who no longer need to buy a local SIM card or find a Wi-Fi hotspot to enjoy the benefits of high-speed internet.
Shufti Pro, meanwhile, will help Birka establish trust with its customers. The identity verification specialist will provide Birka with remote onboarding technology that will ensure that the people using Birka’s SIM cards are in fact who they claim to be. The Shufti Pro solution uses document recognition to confirm the legitimacy of an identity document, and supplements that with facial recognition to match the document to its owner. In doing so, it will prevent fraud and allow Birka to comply with various Know Your Customer regulations.
Birka cited Shufti Pro’s reliable performance and flexible pricing policy as key factors in its decision. The company believes that the technology will remove much of the risk from its onboarding procedures.
“Ensuring complete legal transparency and safety in interactions and regular operations is extremely important to us,” said Birka’s founder. “Shufti Pro proved to be a perfectly functioning and stable product.”
“Our team is excited to be a part of this venture,” added Shufti Pro CEO Victor Fredung. “Shufti Pro has achieved a customer satisfaction rate of 92 percent this year at Crozdesk awards, and we are aiming to increase it further by facilitating large groups of businesses with our AI-based IDV solutions to protect the data and integrity of their clients and organization respectively.”
Shufti Pro recently formed a reseller arrangement with Open Systems Technologies. The company has since provided onboarding services for Morpho Labs’ crypto backers, and for the Vengo ride-hailing platform.
