Serenity and IDEMIA Secure Transactions have announced the launch of the sAxess biometric card, a revolutionary new product designed to enhance digital security and data recovery. The collaboration brings together Serenity’s expertise in blockchain technology with IDEMIA’s biometric smart card technology, building on IDEMIA’s established presence in the biometric payment card market.
The sAxess card introduces a unique hybrid approach to security by integrating both blockchain and biometric technologies. The combination aims to provide robust data protection and enhanced access control, following industry standards for smart card security including ISO/IEC 7816 for contact cards and ISO/IEC 14443 for contactless functionality. The implementation leverages IDEMIA’s experience with biometric payment solutions, which has been demonstrated through successful pilots with major payment networks.
A key component of the sAxess card is IDEMIA’s advanced biometric smart card technology, which builds on the company’s F.CODE platform. This technology enhances transaction security through fingerprint authentication, with templates stored securely on the card’s secure element rather than in external databases. The integration of blockchain technology provides an additional layer of security through immutable transaction records and decentralized data storage, particularly valuable for financial institutions and organizations handling sensitive data.
The sAxess card’s data recovery capabilities are particularly noteworthy, as they combine secure biometric authentication with blockchain-based backup mechanisms, addressing a critical need in scenarios where secure data access and recovery are essential.
The card’s development follows IDEMIA’s recent restructuring, which established IDEMIA Secure Transactions (IST) as a dedicated division focused on payment and connectivity technologies. This organizational focus has enabled the company to concentrate resources on advancing its biometric payment and security solutions.
