Secureye Releases New Temperature Detection Machine

The thermal imaging trend continues. The latest offering is a new Temperature Detection & Face Recognition machine from India’s Secureye, which joins a growing roster of contactless temperature solutions that have emerged in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the name would suggest, the Secureye machine offers both facial recognition and temperature detection capabilities. The system can identify someone wearing a mask, and will automatically send an alert to the proper authorities if it detects someone with an elevated temperature, which could be evidence of a possible COVID-19 infection.

“Safety and security become important during times of crisis,” said Secureye Director Manish Agarwal. “We are always looking at new developments to offer devices that can solve real problems at the ground level.

The connected Temperature Detection & Face Recognition machine can be used for access control, and can take someone’s temperature at a distance of half a meter. It comes with a touchscreen, runs on Linux, and can store 3000 user IDs and up to 20,000 faces.

Secureye’s offering is only available in India, though comparable solutions have emerged in other markets. DERMALOG has been pushing its fever detection system at airports and other venues, while VSBLTY has teamed up with Photon-X to create facial recognition cameras with thermal imaging abilities.

The new devices arrive only weeks after Secureye released a new biometric scanner that can carry out face and fingerprint authentication.
