Secureye Announces Face, Finger, and Temperature-scanning Handheld

New Delhi-based Secureye has announced a new, multimodal biometric device that also supports temperature scanning.

Dubbed “6-in-1 Dynamic Thermal Face Recognition”, the handheld device uses temperature measurement technology sourced from an unnamed Japanese vendor. Secureye says it can body temperature from a distance of 30 to 80 cm, and is designed to trigger a warning if it detects anomalies in temperature that can indicate fever.

It also supports facial recognition built upon a deep learning AI model. Secureye says it can perform a biometric match in less than a second, and that it can scan subject from within three meters in daylight, and within 1.8 meters in nighttime conditions.

With additional support for fingerprint recognition, the device is capable of multimodal biometric authentication.

It’s the temperature scanning, however, that appears to differentiate the 6-in-1 Dynamic Thermal Face Recognition device from a multimodal handheld launched in March, which also supported both fingerprint and facial recognition. Secureye followed that up with a Temperature Detection & Face Recognition machine launched in April, and now appears to be refining that technology with its latest offering.

“Secureye is developing devices that could help corporate or even individual consumers to cover all aspects of verification on employees/people before welcoming them into premises,” the company explained in a statement. “Combining verification devices with temperature measuring technique has become a new norm to promote a safe work environment.”

The new device is priced at INR 40,000, or just under $530.
