“Most of the existing Bluetooth products on the market are about as attractive as a deck of cards. The Unity 20 Bluetooth reader, on the other hand, breaks the mold and is a stunning device with a slim, sleek white case, a single button and three small LEDs.” – Jeff Brown, VP Sales and Marketing, SecuGen
SecuGen has officially unveiled its first fully programmable, Bluetooth-enabled fingerprint reader.
Called the Unity 20, the device leverages SecuGen’s U20-ASF-BT sensor module announced last month, which is itself based on the U20-A, a compact sensor that offers a range of potential applications in other products. The Unity 20 can be programmed via a Linux development environment, or can be used via SecuGen’s Fingerprint Management System API. It features a 1GHz CPU, supports OpenSSL cryptography, and uses MINEX-compliant biometric algorithms; and, of course, its Bluetooth functionality allows for wireless communication with paired devices.
While the Unity 20 stands out against SecuGen’s other products for its Bluetooth functionality and its programmability, in a statement announcing the device, SecuGen Sales and Marketing VP Jeff Brown put the spotlight on its aesthetic qualities. “Most of the existing Bluetooth products on the market are about as attractive as a deck of cards,” he said, “The Unity 20 Bluetooth reader, on the other hand, breaks the mold and is a stunning device with a slim, sleek white case, a single button and three small LEDs.”
The fingerprint reader was announced just ahead of this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, where SecuGen will showcase another new solution, the U10-SF fingerprint sensor module; as well as returning products including the U10 fingerprint sensor and the Hamster Pro 10 fingerprint reader. CES 2019 runs from January 8th to 11th.
