SecuGen Introduces New FAP 30 Fingerprint Sensor

SecuGen is expanding its portfolio with the release of the Hamster Pro 30 and U30 OEM fingerprint sensors. Both devices offer similar utility, though the U30 is geared more toward equipment manufacturers that are looking to add fingerprint recognition to another device, whereas the Hamster Pro is a more standalone fingerprint capture solution.

In terms of performance, both the Hamster Pro 30 and the U30 OEM boast FBI FAP 30 certification, and are cleared for use under the FIPS 201 PIV standard. The sensors are also compatible with the agency’s Next Generation Identification System Image Quality specifications for fingerprint authentication.

End users, meanwhile, should benefit from a more convenient capture experience. The glass platen featured in the two readers is the largest in SecuGen’s current lineup of contact sensors, with SecuGen indicating that many clients have expressed interest in a bigger form factor.

“Our amazing engineering team continues to design products of the highest quality,” said SecuGen Sales VP Jeff Brown. “With the launch of Hamster 30, we have broadened our product line in response to our partners’ requirements for larger sized fingerprint readers for FAP 30 applications.”

The Hamster Pro 30 and the U30 OEM are available now through SecuGen’s network of system integrators and software and hardware partners. Those who decide to purchase the devices will have access to a free SDK and other tools that SecuGen provides to help clients integrate the fingerprint technology with their own networks and their existing infrastructure.

For its part, SecuGen believes that the new products are well suited to a wide range of applications, ranging from access control to finance to national identity. The FAP 30 devices are built to be durable and affordable, and join a product line that already includes the Hamster Pro 10, the Hamster Pro 20, and the contactless Hamster Air sensor that debuted in October.
