SEALSQ Takes Majority Stake in Wecan Group for Post-Quantum Compliance Push

SEALSQ has raised its investment in Swiss compliance-technology firm Wecan Group to a majority position and committed CHF 5 million to accelerate post-quantum financial compliance infrastructure. The move converts a minority holding taken about a year earlier into control of a platform already used by private banks and wealth managers.

SEALSQ first acquired a 28 percent stake in Wecan Group and has now increased that to a majority interest, with the CHF 5 million commitment drawn from the SEALQUANTUM.com Quantum Fund. Founded in 2015, Wecan Group builds compliance infrastructure for financial institutions, handling client onboarding, know-your-customer and anti-money-laundering processes, and ongoing lifecycle management. Its client roster includes Pictet, Lombard Odier, Edmond de Rothschild, Syz, and Barclays.

The companies plan to combine Wecan’s compliance tools with SEALSQ’s security technologies into a single platform for financial institutions. The intended stack pairs post-quantum cryptography and quantum-resistant hardware security modules with secure digital identity frameworks, blockchain-based trust mechanisms, and an AI-powered Compliance Copilot designed to automate parts of regulatory workflows.

“Financial institutions and digital asset platforms are entering a new era in which cybersecurity, compliance automation, digital identity and trusted AI must converge,” said Carlos Moreira, CEO of SEALSQ. Vincent Pignon, founder and CEO of Wecan Group, said the investment “will allow us to accelerate the deployment of our Compliance Management Copilot and strengthen our infrastructure with post-quantum security capabilities.”

SEALSQ has been positioning hardware-rooted security and quantum-resistant cryptography as the foundation for identity and data integrity across connected systems. The company recently outlined a post-quantum cryptography roadmap for ‘physical AI’ devices, emphasizing migration paths for secure elements and trusted platform modules. Affiliated company WISeKey has integrated its QAIT token into the SEALCOIN ecosystem for machine-to-machine transactions built on digital identities and decentralized trust.

The Wecan investment applies that thesis to financial compliance, where institutions face both rising regulatory demands and the prospect that current encryption could be broken by future quantum computers. By taking majority control, SEALSQ gains direct influence over a compliance platform serving established banks and can integrate its identity and post-quantum security components into onboarding and KYC processes those institutions already run.
