Samsung Galaxy S10 In-Display Fingerprint Sensor All But Confirmed

The Samsung Galaxy S10’s in-display fingerprint sensor is all but confirmed, thanks to newly-leaked images and discoveries in new Samsung Pay code.

The latter come by way of XDA-Developers, which reports that code in the latest version of the Samsung Pay app contains “two very explicit references” to an in-display fingerprint sensor on at least one model of Samsung’s forthcoming flagship smartphone. Samsung Pay uses fingerprint authentication to confirm transactions, hence the inclusion of such references in the code for its latest iteration.

Combined with the latest leaked image from Evan Blass, the evidence gets even stronger. Blass, a mobile leaker with a strong track record, posted to Twitter an image purportedly depicting the three different versions of the Galaxy S10. The most budget-friendly-seeming model, which Blass calls the “Galaxy S10E”, sports a side-mounted fingerprint sensor; the others, which are presumably the standard versions of the S10, don’t show any fingerprint sensors – not on their sides, and not on their rear faces.

And then there’s the official ‘invitation’ to the Galaxy S10 launch issued by Samsung last week, which featured a graphic that appeared to depict the numbers “1” and “0” bobbing up and then under a horizontal line representing a screen.

In other words, it’s a slam dunk: The Samsung S10 will have an in-display fingerprint sensor. And assuming the company also brings back its face- and iris-scanning Intelligent Scan system, that will make it one of the most technologically sophisticated smartphones on the market in terms of biometrics.
