It looks like a lot of FindBiometrics readers are eager to start travelling again. At least, safe air travel appears to be top of mind, judging by this week’s roundup of our most popular articles.
NEC, for example, got a lot of attention with its news that it will provide facial recognition and temperature screening technology for Hawaii’s airports. The contract will entail a collaboration between NEC Corporation, NEC America, and Infrared Cameras, and is worth $37.5 million:

And NEC got more attention still thanks to its newly announced partnership with SITA. The two are joining forces to deliver a contactless passenger processing solution for airports that will leverage facial recognition and travelers’ mobile devices:

Readers also showed sustained interest this week in a short primer on biometric passenger screening from an airline itself. Delta wants to familiarize customers with its use of facial recognition, all the more so in the wake of COVID-19, which has further pushed the air travel industry toward contactless solutions:

Moving away from air travel specifically – but still keeping with the COVID-19 theme – readers also proved interested this week in Suprema’s launch of a temperature-scanning camera that can be added to its FaceStation 2 biometric kiosk:
Suprema Adds Thermal Camera to Biometric Kiosk Solution
And finally, FindBiometrics visitors showed strong interest over the past week in the news that Founders Table would trial CLEAR’s Health Pass solution at restaurants in Washington, D.C., and New York City. Health Pass verifies end users’ identities with biometric authentication and asks them health questions to screen for signs of COVID-19, and Founders Table is exploring its use in making sure restaurant staff are healthy enough to come in for work:
