Safe Air Travel is Top of Mind in This Week’s Top Biometrics Stories

It looks like a lot of FindBiometrics readers are eager to start travelling again. At least, safe air travel appears to be top of mind, judging by this week’s roundup of our most popular articles.

NEC, for example, got a lot of attention with its news that it will provide facial recognition and temperature screening technology for Hawaii’s airports. The contract will entail a collaboration between NEC Corporation, NEC America, and Infrared Cameras, and is worth $37.5 million:

And NEC got more attention still thanks to its newly announced partnership with SITA. The two are joining forces to deliver a contactless passenger processing solution for airports that will leverage facial recognition and travelers’ mobile devices:

Readers also showed sustained interest this week in a short primer on biometric passenger screening from an airline itself. Delta wants to familiarize customers with its use of facial recognition, all the more so in the wake of COVID-19, which has further pushed the air travel industry toward contactless solutions:
