Rhombus has unveiled three new artificial intelligence-powered security features aimed at streamlining video surveillance operations, marking a significant advancement in the rapidly evolving field of AI-enhanced security systems. The release includes Rhombus Faces 2.0 for enhanced facial detection, a combined event search capability, and ChatGPT integration for natural language video searches.
The platform’s ChatGPT integration represents one of the first commercial applications of large language models in video surveillance, enabling security personnel to search footage using natural language descriptions of incidents.
Rhombus Faces 2.0 builds upon existing facial recognition technology to monitor movement patterns, generate real-time alerts, and maintain facility access records. The system’s deployment comes amid increasing scrutiny of facial recognition surveillance, with various jurisdictions worldwide taking different approaches to regulation.
Through the combined event search feature, users can search across multiple parameters including facial recognition, clothing color, region filters, license plates, and vehicle colors. The system integrates with existing access control systems and security devices through a unified interface, following an industry-wide push toward consolidated security management platforms.
“Security teams are often inundated with video footage, and can spend hours manually searching for specific incidents they need to review,” said Brandon Salzberg, Vice President of Engineering at Rhombus. “Our latest release fundamentally changes this dynamic. By integrating ChatGPT and advanced AI into our platform, we’re enabling customers to find critical security events in seconds, while automating many routine tasks that otherwise bog down security operations.”
The platform is designed to process video from hundreds or thousands of cameras while maintaining rapid response times, leveraging similar distributed processing architectures to those used by major surveillance networks in metropolitan areas. The new features are now available to users, with the ChatGPT integration currently accessible in beta.
