Retail Bank Renews BIO-key Fingerprint Identity Contract for $1.04 Million

BIO-key International has announced a $1.04 million license renewal and expansion from a foreign retail bank that has deployed the company’s fingerprint biometric identification system across its branch network, serving more than 30 million enrolled clients.

The one-year renewal represents a 30 percent increase over the prior year’s contract value, reflecting growth in the bank’s deployment of BIO-key’s technology. The bank has been a BIO-key customer since 2015, when an initial rollout covered 7 million enrolled clients. That base has since grown to more than 30 million clients, with ten fingerprints enrolled per client, bringing the total to more than 300 million fingerprints managed by the system.

The deployment supports client identification and verification at teller stations, assisted kiosks, and ATMs and automated service points. Approximately 10,000 bank employees also use BIO-key’s fingerprint technology to authenticate themselves during daily branch operations and transaction processing.

As part of the bank’s know-your-customer processes, client fingerprints are verified against a national identity verification system. BIO-key said this creates a durable chain of identity trust that ties each in-person interaction back to the original client identity-proofing event, reducing risk of impersonation, account takeover, and fraud.

Michael DePasquale, BIO-key’s chairman and CEO, said the company entered 2026 with approximately $2.7 million in cash and improving visibility on renewal activity. The company said it believes current cash and anticipated inflows are sufficient to internally fund its growth plans.

Jim Sullivan, BIO-key’s SVP of Strategy and Chief Legal Officer, said identity assurance is becoming the control point for modern banking, particularly as client service and operations become more automated and AI-assisted. The renewal incorporates anticipated enrollment growth of 5 percent over the coming year. BIO-key has previously expanded its banking footprint internationally, including a deployment with Dubai Police and a partnership with SAVIS to bring biometric IAM to Vietnam.
