On the regulatory side, readers flocked to news from last month concerning the policy discourse around facial recognition in Canada. In a recent presentation to a parliamentary committee, the country’s Privacy Commissioner, Daniel Therrien, warned that facial recognition technology – particularly as it is used by firms like Clearview AI – represents a threat to privacy and other civil rights:
