“Redrock’s advanced palm-print biometric solution provides dramatically better accuracy and ease of use over competitive technologies that FalconPro requires to expand our product offerings beyond barcode technology.” – Xun You, CEO, FalconPro
RedRock Biometrics is poised to help Shanghai-based FalconPro expand beyond the barcode technology in which it specializes, thanks to a new partnership between the companies.
The former is known for its PalmID technology, which is designed to use an RGB or infrared camera to scan end users’ palm vein biometrics. The biometric technology is evidently of interest to FalconPro and its partners, suggest comments from FalconPro CEO Xun You in a statement announcing the partnership.
“We are collaborating with Redrock Biometrics to create a hardware and software system to conduct pilot projects with large customers in the payments and public transportation industries,” he explained. “Redrock’s advanced palm-print biometric solution provides dramatically better accuracy and ease of use over competitive technologies that FalconPro requires to expand our product offerings beyond barcode technology.”
Elaborating further, Redrock Biometrics co-founder Hua Yang said that the companies collaboration is aimed at developing “a true contactless/tokenless authentication and identification solution.” The effort will combine Redrock’s PalmID software with a camera module provided by FalconPro.
The specific applications to which this project is ultimately aimed aren’t yet clear, the companies’ announcement noted that FalconPro’s barcode scanning products are widely used in industries including mobile payemnts, healthcare, and self-service equipment; and that FalconPro is a founder of the Chinese Automatic Fare Collection System Association and provides QR code-based ticketing solutions to rail services in China.
