Another smartphone manufacturer has decided to take advantage of Goodix’s in-display fingerprint scanning technology. The company has announced that its ultra-thin optical in-display fingerprint sensor will soon be appearing in the Fast and Furious Redmi K30 Pro Series.
The K30 Pro will include a Goodix smart audio amplifier in addition to the fingerprint sensor.
Redmi is one of several equipment manufacturers that has integrated Goodix technology into its devices since the beginning of the year. The in-display sensor has already appeared in the Reno3 and Find X2 Series from OPPO, as well as the iQOO 3 5G phone from Vivo. The iQOO 3 and the Find X2 series also featured Goodix noise suppression tech. The growing popularity of the company’s audio offerings suggests that its acquisition of NXP’s voice and audio business was a sound investment (in more ways than one).
The news builds on Goodix’s early 2020 success, which extends well beyond smartphones. For example, the company recently revealed that it has placed a fingerprint-based authentication system in a new SUV Coupe from Lynk & Co. Goodix did have a patent invalidated in a dispute with Egis Technology, but that remains its only significant hiccup of the year thus far.
