Xiaomi has launched a new Redmi device, and it once again uses biometric technology from Fingerprint Cards and Precise Biometrics.
While the most recent Redmi device, the Redmi Pro, featured an FPC1245 sensor model, the new Redmi Note 4 returns to the same model used in the Redmi 3X and Redmi 3S devices—an FPC1035. And like those previous iterations, the sensor runs Precise BioMatch Mobile algorithm software, care of Precise Biometrics.
Xiaomi is one of Fingerprint Cards’ most reliable repeat customers in the mobile OEM market, and therefore a longtime user of of Precise Biometrics software as well. The China-based smartphone maker has helped to pioneer the spread of fingerprint sensors down the smartphone price spectrum, and in so doing has helped to propel FPC and Precise Biometrics into leading positions as biometrics technology suppliers in a growing mobile biometrics market.
The Redmi Note 4 is currently available in China, and is expected to reach other markets including India, reports CNET.
