The implementation at Pune Airport’s new terminal expands upon existing operations at the facility’s old terminal. The system has gained widespread adoption across India, with the DigiYatra app exceeding 10 million downloads and facilitating over 45 million passenger journeys across 24 airports nationwide.
At the launch ceremony, Minister Mohol highlighted how DigiYatra allows travelers to complete all formalities “from the entry gate to boarding without hassle.”
The technology deployment follows India’s partnership with IDEMIA, selected in 2023 as a technology provider for the DigiYatra airport transformation project. The system aims to reduce waiting times while enhancing security and efficiency.
This implementation represents a key component of India’s aviation modernization strategy, coming nearly a year after the inauguration of Pune Airport’s new terminal. The expansion reflects a global trend as airports increasingly adopt digital identity verification solutions to improve passenger processing and security measures.
