Princeton Identity Upgrades Auburn University Access Control System

Princeton Identity has upgraded the biometric access control system of Alabama’s Auburn University, the company has announced. It’s an extension of a longstanding partnership between the organizations, with Princeton Identity having originally provided a biometric access control system based on iris recognition for Auburn’s athletics facility back in 2011.

The system includes browser-based software and the Access200e enrollment camera, a standalone solution that allows individuals to be registered in the system from any device that can access the web. And Princeton Identity says it now features “faster processing, a superior software interface, more features and greater flexibility,” according to a statement announcing the upgrade.

Commenting on the biometric access control system, Auburn University Facilities and Operations Associate Director Jeff Steele attested that the response from users “has been overwhelmingly positive,” adding that it has become a selling point for the parents of prospective students when they’re given tours of the facilities. “They can see that it’s a much stronger system than key or card access,” he said.

The Auburn University deployment’s upgrade comes after Princeton Identity announced that it had obtained three new patents with the USPTO for its iris recognition technology this past summer.
