The company is investing $1.5 million in digital assets, allocating $1 million to Humanity Protocol’s $H tokens and $250,000 each to Bitcoin (BTC) and Solana (SOL). These allocations will be reviewed quarterly for potential additional investment. As of December 31, 2024, Prenetics maintained a cash and short-term assets balance of $84.87 million.
As part of the partnership, Prenetics has joined Humanity Protocol as an Identity Validator, incorporating its CircleDNA service into the protocol. The system will issue blockchain-based Proof of Personhood credentials using DNA testing, with zero-knowledge proof technology to protect privacy.
Danny Yeung, CEO and Co-Founder of Prenetics, said the partnership demonstrates how genomics and blockchain technology can work together. He noted that CircleDNA will offer secure, private identity solutions for decentralized applications in finance, healthcare, and governance while supporting the company’s digital asset strategy.
Yat Siu, Board Director of the Humanity Foundation and Executive Chairman of Animoca Brands, called Prenetics’ entry into decentralized identity “a significant milestone,” adding that their genomics expertise and Web3 involvement would advance decentralized identity and secure digital interactions.
This initiative follows recent progress in the decentralized identity verification space, where multiple protocols are developing identity and reputation systems for Web3 applications.
Prenetics’ other operations include its clinical division Insighta, which is conducting AI-driven early cancer detection trials with $30 million in backing from Tencent, and its consumer health brand IM8, which focuses on longevity and daily health solutions. The company also operates Europa, a sports distribution company in the USA.
