Precise Biometrics has announced a major new integration of its fingerprint biometrics software. Gionee’s new M5 Plus device features Precise Biometrics’ Precise BioMatch Mobile system.
The biometric algorithm software is helping to power the device’s fingerprint scanning capabilities via its FPC1145 sensor, care of Precise Biometrics’ hardware partner, Fingerprint Cards. Having previously been integrated into devices like Huawei’s Honor 7i smartphone, the fingerprint sensor should help this new mid-range device to compete in a market increasingly crowded with smartphones sporting biometric functionality.
The integration should help to further boost Precise Biometrics’ licensing revenues going forward—an area that has seen a significant surge thanks in large part to the company’s partnership with FPC, which has become a leading sensor supplier to smartphone OEMs. But Precise Biometrics has also recently been expanding its partnerships in this area with new licensing agreements, as in its recently announced deal with Shanghai OXi Technology. In a booming market, Precise Biometrics is likely to benefit from as many of these partnerships as it can establish.
